Prague dining in best restaurants
serving traditional Czech meals

Prague dining without a good Czech beer is simply impossible.

It would be a inexcusable mistake to be in Prague and not to taste the combination of typical Czech meal and couple of good Czech beers.

Czech national dish “pork, cabbage and dumpling” (vepřo, knedlo, zelo) as well as other Czech meals is quite heavy and contains reasonable amount of fat (may be better to say calories...). A good beer is therefore just the right and inevitable beverage to support your digestion process.

Here are some well known Prague dining "pearls" serving traditional Czech cuisine and Czech beer in a unique atmosphere.

BREWERY AND RESTAURANT U FLEKU - Kremencova 11,

The oldest and best known brewery in Prague established in 1499. It serves famous 13 “degrees” dark lager with caramel taste. The beer is brewed according to old recipes and exclusively for this restaurant. So you can not drink it anywhere else in Prague.

It has beautiful stylish rooms, garden restaurant and Old Prague Variety Show. In eight rooms the restaurant can serve more than 1200 guests at one time. More information you can find here.

PINKAS CELLAR - Jungmanovo namesti 16,

Situated just next to Wenceslas Square. The first restaurant in Prague which started with taping Pilsner Urquell beer in 1843. The restaurant maintains the traditional rules for serving beer. In each of three floors you can find a different specific Czech cuisine and atmosphere. More information you can find here. Unfortunately only in Czech. But you can explore at least the atmosphere at different floors.

NOVOMESTSKY BREWERY - Vodickova 20,

Old-fashioned traditional Czech culinary oriented restaurant situated in historical cellars, just 5 minutes walking from the Wenceslas square. You can enjoy 10 rooms with summer terrace, micro-brewery and cellars with interior of Gothic style.

It is another brewery operating a microbrewery for own purposes. Several times in a week visitors have the opportunity to follow the master brewers during the brewing of beer according to an old, long-forgotten and discontinued tradition from the 14th century. The total seating capacity is 340. More information on the history of beer brewery and the restaurant here.

U ZLATEHO TYGRA (at Golden Tiger) - Husova 17,

A traditional “Pilsen” beer restaurant with authentic atmosphere of Old Prague. It is famous for serving as the first restaurant in Prague very aromatic and tasty “beer – cheese”. The combination of cold Pilsen beer and “beer cheese” is unforgettable. You can not miss this experience.

Sometimes it is hard to get place. 90% of visitors are local permanent guests, sitting for long hours, drinking beer and discussing “important social and political matters”. But the atmosphere is really unique. More information you can find here.

KOLKOVNA GROUP of restaurants - V Kolkovně 8,

Kolkovna was one of the first restaurants to boast the title Pilsner Urquell Original Restaurant. The unique atmosphere of this place is accentuated by its history as a former printing office for ‘fee stamping’ from the 1820’s.

The Kolkovna Restaurant represents a combination of the tradition and uniqueness of the Pilsner Urquell brand and Czech cuisine fused with modern gastronomy. It is located only a couple steps away from the Pařížská Street and Old Town Square, just across of Jewish Museum.

Be sure to come for a meal being really hungry. Served portions are simply colossal. More information about Kolkovna Group of restaurants you can find here.

Prague dining could become one of your unforgettable experience.
